Growing up in a close-knit family of Five — having aunts, uncles and cousins as neighbors — really conditioned me to be a compassionate, humane and kind woman — with a little tolerance, patience and humor — thrown in.
DAMN IT ELDERS
I remember — as kids — whenever we uttered “shit!” “Damn it” or even “Ass” — we received a tight smack from our “Respectable” elders — Though they spewed a swarm of abusive locusts during altercations, fights and arguments with other adults — themselves!
Hearing a “fuck” from a tiny-tot’s mouth — momentarily — sounds hilarious. But as adults, we refrain them from using slangs. And why?
The answer is simple — which by-the-way — our elders never disclosed….
Don’t abuse, use slangs as kids — because you’ll have plenty of reasons and opportunities to hit the bull’s eye as an adult!
And that my friend — is a fact of life!
TINY TOT SAID F*&K
I’ve always been that obedient — goody-goody — cute — adorable kinda kid. Got all the love, candies and frequent squeeze on my cheeks — yeah, I grew up with baby fat — still have it!
Yes, where I was — yeah, Adults and Slangs!
So, as kids, it was a sin to abuse and use slangs and dirty words. And failing to abide by our elders’ instructions — would lead to a few whacks and smacks — and occasional “Stand in the corner for the rest of the day” punishments!
GROWN A** ADULTS
But when you’re a grown-ass adult — there I already used a slang here — you have responsibilities — job — tight schedules — deadlines — and an annoying as hell of a society to survive. The chemical concoctions in our brain are bound to hit a rut — causing us to loose steam via a few not-a-good-girl-boy-type-of-choicely-words!
For example: Today in Kerala — Southern part of India — a notorious anti-social group — who call them cultural Godfathers — shooed, abused, and physically assaulted young men, women and couples — And why? Because they were interacting and being themselves — or in their words — enjoying at the Marine Beach!
Who the F*&K are these cultural Vigilantes? Why the H*&^ should a bunch-of-frustrated-not-getting-action-goons go after people who mean no harm to our society or them?!
Then there are other instances too that made — and continue to make me say — WTF…
THE CURIOUS CASE OF PURE BREEDS — BLOODY ANIMAL NAZIS
So, called Dog Lovers in India — seeking Pure Breed Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Daschund and other imported breeds — while ignoring the ever so — low-maintenance-equally-loyal-lovable-and-friendly Indian Pariah breeds A.K.A Stray Dogs? Pure Breed? MotherF)*&s Animal Nazis!
So many instances and the fact that — as a society — we’re becoming regressive with each passing day — from being a free woman and proud of having a vagina to being a pro-feminist man to a single mother — every independent, wide-range, open-minded and positive thought, action and man and woman — is being throttled by a bunch of EFFING LUNATICS — and leaving us to use choicely words — As ADULTS!
ONE GENERATION AT A TIME
But, I am a progressive, responsible and positive Adult. I will never refrain my kid from being themselves, using words of their own, and believing that the world is an expansive place to spread positivity, love and happiness.
It’s my generation that will help transition the world and give birth to progressive human beings. The trend has always been so. My parents’ generation also brought us up to be the kind of person the world needs. And we’ll continue to drive their legacy into full speed!
