Recovering Procrastinator: Set MISSION

The limbic system controls the pleasure part of our brain — whereas, the prefrontal cortex is all about discipline and planning. And procrastination happens when the limbic system overpowers prefrontal cortex. So, blame my brain structure for being a serial procrastinator? Well, that not how it works.

“limbic system controls the pleasure part of our brain — whereas, the prefrontal cortex is all about discipline and planning”

Yes, I am a bonafide procrastinator. So, much so that I thought of writing on this topic in the morning — but starting right now, and it’s 7 PM.

Am I lazy? No. And I can vouch on that statement. I work for straight 18 hours a day — including household chores, managing 2 dogs and a husband, projects, and office tasks. So, yeah. I’m definitely not lazy. And ever since the lockdown, I happen to vacuum the entire house 5 times a day — courtesy the continuous shedding of my fur babies, and my asthmatic husband.

“Am I lazy? No. And I can vouch on that statement.”

However, I am definitely a procrastinator. In sense, I fail to complete tasks from my priority list — basically from my life’s list. From karate lessons in the 3rd standard, Italian language classes, and a degree program in fine arts to swimming lessons and MBA. I started all of these. But left midway.
